In SL
there are many expressions of faith emerging. We at Koinonia seek to
offer a safe space in which people from around the world engage in a
community of ecumenical faith that represents liberal protestant values
where all are valued as sacred children of God. With a social gospel
ethic and liberation theology, combined with a feminist pedagogy, we seek to extend God's extragent welcome to all who seek.
The
team offers individuals the opportunity to explore questions and
experience the fellowship of seekers and the faithful as well as
compassionate, knowledgeable facilitators. Scholars and religious
leaders representing open and affirming traditions are able to interact
with people in both structured online learning opportunities as well as
casual fellowship.
It
is the ultimate goal of this project to extend God’s radical hospitality and allow people to experience a welcoming Christian community
online (perhaps for the first time in their lives) and begin to seek
real congregations where their sacred worth is honored. In addition,
the leadership team will attempt to connect persons, when appropriate,
to welcoming brick and mortar churches.
